RED PATH
EXHIBITION DECEMBRE 2014 - MONTREUIL, FRANCE
Exposé à Montreuil lors d’une exposition collective, «Red Path» est un travail sur la trace. Trace rouge, chemin rouge… La trace du monotype croise celles d’hommes rouges aujourd’hui disparus. Même si il ne reste d’eux, qu’une empreinte de leurs corps sur un support photosensible, ils sont quelque part dans une dimension immatérielle. L’inaccessibilité de ce territoire n’induit pas une absence d’influence de ce côté du miroir. La rémanence de leurs visages est une trace de leur pouvoir de ce côté du monde. Ces traces traitées en palimpseste sont un hommage et une invocation.
Une mère canadienne, originaire de l’Outaouais, son amour pour la forêt et ces habitants ainsi que des ancêtres «coureurs des bois» ont rendu évident pour moi, la rencontre avec les premières nations et leurs enseignements: le «Chemin Rouge».
Shown in Montreuil, for a collective exhibition in October 2014, “Red Path” is a work focussed on the trace. Red trace, red path… The trace of the monotype crosses paths with that of the red men who have disappeared. Even if nothing remains of them, other than an imprint of their bodies on a photosensitive medium, they are somewhere in an immaterial dimension. The inaccessibility of this territory does not entail an absence of influence on this side of the mirror. The endurance of their faces is a trace of their power on this side of the world. These traces treated in palimpsest are an homage and an invocation. A Canadian mother, originating from Outaouais area, her love for the forest and its inhabitants as well as the ancestor “wood runners”, made it clear to me, the meeting with the first nations and their teachings: the “Red Path.”
